Open Concept - Family Room/Dining Room
In designing these rooms, careful consideration was given to maximizing the functionality of the space while embracing its non-traditional dimensions. The aim was to create a harmonious blend of style and comfort, ensuring that every element served a purpose in enhancing the overall aesthetic and usability of the living areas.
Family Room
The introduction of a larger sectional was a pivotal decision in achieving a more proportional and practical living space. By carefully configuring the layout to create a conducive angle for family relaxation and TV watching, the extended length of the sectional provided ample space for each family member. This deliberate design choice not only enhanced the overall aesthetics of the room but also contributed significantly to the functionality of the space, ensuring a comfortable and inviting atmosphere for daily activities.
The choice of Crypton sofa fabric underscored a commitment to both style and practicality. Similar to Sunbrella, this fabric boasted impressive kid-friendly qualities with its high stain resistance and easy-to-clean features. This ensured that the living space remained both sophisticated and resilient, accommodating the dynamic lifestyle of a family while maintaining the desired level of elegance.
After finalizing the floor plan and space layout, it became apparent that a customized carpet was essential to tie the room together. Opting for a carpet with a tailored length and width (9’-6" x 15’-6") allowed for a seamless integration into the space, emphasizing the attention to detail in creating a cohesive and visually appealing environment. This bespoke approach to the carpet selection not only added a touch of personalization but also addressed the specific spatial requirements of the room, completing the comprehensive redesign with precision and style.
Dining Room
The introduction of a custom dining table and chairs, elegantly stained in a rich dark chocolate/espresso hue, became the focal point of the room. This deliberate choice not only conveyed a timeless aesthetic but also added a touch of sophistication to the dining area.
To infuse a sense of continuity between the dining and family rooms, an existing piece of art was seamlessly incorporated. This art piece not only brought visual cohesion to the overall design but also served as a tasteful bridge between the different styles employed in the adjacent spaces. Complemented by carefully selected custom art in the family room, the entire area became a harmonious composition of diverse yet complementary elements.
The lighting scheme underwent a transformation with the replacement of the chandelier by a striking drum pendant. This contemporary fixture injected a sense of drama and modernity into the dining space, creating a captivating focal point. The pendant not only illuminated the room in a more stylish manner but also contributed to the overall coherence of the design, enhancing the visual appeal of the dining area.
To add depth and visual interest, floor-to-ceiling drapery panels in a contrasting color were introduced. Against the backdrop of light gray walls, these drapes not only provided a pop of contrast but also created a sense of grandeur and sophistication. This thoughtful addition enhanced the overall aesthetic, contributing to a well-balanced and visually pleasing dining room that seamlessly complemented the adjacent family space.
