Lake House Interior Design
These living spaces were designed for a family’s weekend getaway home located about ten minutes from Sebago Lake in Casco, Maine.
The property underwent a complete transformation soon after it was purchased with additions of new paint, flooring, lighting and hardware throughout. The home had great potential and structure but was desperate for some updating. The original flooring consisted of linoleum, carpet and a hardwood flooring section in the living area. All existing flooring was replaced with hardwood maple, chosen to complement the existing cabinets so they wouldn't have to be replaced.
The homeowners wanted the home to have a lake home feel, but not coastal because it’s not near an ocean. A color scheme of navy, gray and beige was chosen. The walls were painted gray accented by bright white floor length drapery panels for a crisp feel. The sectional was upholstered with a gray herringbone textured fabric and navy pillows were added for contrast. The room was brought together with a blue rug which has strips of denim and woven hemp material throughout.
The homeowners didn’t want a typical dining table that is found at a retail store, they really wanted something with character and luckily I was able to source an antique dining table that ended up to be the perfect piece! The dark finish of the table highlights the dark spots in the wood flooring and adds a nice contrast against the light colored wood. The chairs fabric and stools woven material add great texture to the kitchen and dining space.
A certain charm was brought to the dining space with the addition of antique snowshoes, blue and white pottery, silver salt and pepper shakers and wooden model boats all sourced from a Naples antique store.
There will be many more pictures to come as renovations on this beautiful property continue!
